Lowes Provides Power Tools for Affiliates

August 1, 2007, Brookings, South Dakota – “Even though they are new to the Brookings community, Lowe’s Home Improvement center has not hesitated in making a dramatic contribution to the South Dakota region,” is the response given by Patty Bacon, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity – South Dakota. The Lowe’s store in Brookings recently donated power tools to each of the14 Habitat for Humanity affiliates in South Dakota.

Habitat for Humanity – South Dakota distributed the power tools at the Building Dreams Celebration in Sioux Falls. Each Habitat affiliate was greatly appreciative to receive their new power tool because the tools will improve the efficiency at their work sites. “Lowe’s partnership with Habitat reinforces their commitment to eradicate the affordable hosing crisis in South Dakota,” comments Bacon.

Lowe’s also sponsors the Women Builds for the Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, and Brookings. Women participating in the builds have the opportunity to receive training from Lowe’s. The materials that are necessary for the Women Build house are also being provided by Lowe’s.

The Lowe’s Corporation has been partnering with Habitat for Humanity International since 2003. More than $6 million has been contributed by Lowe’s, along with numerous hours of volunteer support.
